Exegesis
A stacked negation oudeni ouden eipan {οὐδενὶ οὐδὲν εἶπαν | oudení oudén eîpan} heightens the portrayal of their silence, which the imperfect ephobounto gar {ἐφοβοῦντο γάρ | ephoboûnto gár} explains as ongoing fear.
