1 And after the Sabbath had passed, Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices {aromata: burial perfumes} so that, after they had come, they might anoint Him {auton: crucified one}.
2 And very {lian: emphatic intensifier} early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb at the rising of the sun {heliou: morning sun}.
3 And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone {lithos: large heavy barrier} for us from the door of the tomb {mnemeion: rock-cut grave}?”
4 And having looked up, they see that the stone {lithos: burial barrier} had been rolled away, for it was extremely great {megas: impressively large}.
5 And when they had entered the tomb {mnemeion: burial chamber}, they saw a young man sitting on the right, clothed in a long white robe, and they were amazed {exethambethesan: overwhelmed with astonishment}.
6 But he says to them, “Do not be amazed {ekthambeisthe: deeply shaken}; you are seeking Jesus {Iesous, Risen Crucified One} the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has been raised; He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.”
7 But go, tell His {Iesous, Risen Forerunner} disciples and Peter that He goes before you into Galilee {Galilaia: post-resurrection meeting place}; there you will see Him, just as He told you.
8 And having gone out, they fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. But all the things that had been commanded, they reported briefly to those around Peter; and after these things, Jesus {Iesous, Risen Sender} Himself sent out, through them, the holy and imperishable proclamation {kerygma: solemn announcement} of the eternal salvation, from east to west. Amen.
9 Now when He {Iesous, Risen Messiah} had risen early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary the Magdalene {Magdalene: woman from Magdala}, from whom He had cast out seven demons.
10 She {ekeine: that woman} went and reported it to those who had been with Him {Iesous, Risen Lord}, as they were mourning and weeping.
11 And those ones, having heard that He {Iesous, Risen Lord} lives and that He was seen by her, did not believe {epistesan: refused to trust}.
12 After these things, He {Iesous, Risen Revealer} appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking, going into the country {agron: rural area}.
13 And they {kakeinoi: earlier witnesses} went away and reported it to the rest {loipois: remaining disciples}, but they did not believe them either.
14 Afterward, He {Christos, Risen Corrector} appeared to them, the eleven, as they were reclining {anakeimai: dining posture}, and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him risen.
15 And He {Iesous, Commissioning Lord} said to them, “Go into all the world, and proclaim the gospel to every creature {ktisis: created being}.”
16 The one who has believed {ho pisteusas: faith-defined one} and has been baptized will be saved; but the one who has not believed will be condemned {katakrithesetai: declared guilty}.
17 And these signs {semeia: confirming miracles} will follow those who have believed: In My {Iesous, Authorizing Lord} name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues.
18 They will pick up snakes, and if they drink anything deadly {thanasimon: causing death}, it will by no means harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will be well {kalōs: fully restored}.
19 So then, the Lord Jesus {Kyrios Iesous, Exalted Ascended Lord}, after speaking to them, was taken up into heaven, and He sat at the right hand of God {Theos, Sovereign Heavenly Father}.
20 But those who had gone out preached everywhere, the Lord {Kyrios, Risen Collaborator} working with them and confirming the word {logos: proclaimed message} through the accompanying signs.
