18. Formal Translation
While the disciples of John and the Pharisees were observing a fast, they approached Jesus {Iesous, Heavenly Teacher} and asked, “Why do the disciples of John and the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”
18. Dynamic Translation
At that time, John’s followers and the Pharisees’ followers were fasting, and some approached Jesus {Iesous, Compassionate Healer} and asked, “Why do John’s followers and the Pharisees’ followers fast, while Your followers do not?”
