Formal Translation Yet while he was weighing these matters, look, an angel of the Lord {Kyrios, Sovereign Lord} appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit {pneuma hagion, Spirit of Conception}.” |

Dynamic Translation As he kept turning the matter over, suddenly an angel from the Lord {Kyrios, Divine King} came to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to accept Mary as your wife, because what is conceived in her comes from the Holy Spirit {pneuma hagion, Life-Giving Source}.” |
