Receive the Lord Who Speaks

Lord, revive your Church to treasure every word you have spoken. Rescue us from shallow listening, awaken reverence for your long witness, and make us attentive to your voice from Scripture to life, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Our Love for Your Word

Father, thank you that you did not leave your people without a voice. Thank you for the prophets, for your covenant instruction, and for the faithful way you prepared the way up to John. Make me grateful for the whole story you have been telling, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Bring these before God: a tendency to read favorite verses in isolation; a desire to see the Bible as one unfolding witness; willingness to learn patiently from Scripture before making conclusions.
