Lord, revive your Church to read your Word carefully, to honor your wisdom, and to keep mercy close to obedience. Save us from harshness, quick accusations, and careless religion. Teach us to serve faithfully and to trust your justice, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your People Wise and Humble

Lord, thank you that your instruction is not shallow or unfair. Thank you that you know when service is faithful and when blame is misplaced, and that your ways can hold holiness and mercy together. in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for Wise Instruction

Lord, forgive me for judging by appearances and for speaking before I have listened. Free me from harshness and from pride, and teach me to read your ways with a humble and patient heart. in the name of Jesus. Amen.

From Quick Judgment to Charity

Pray by naming one situation where you are unsure whether something is faithful service or careless disobedience. Ask God to show you what his Word actually says, to slow your reactions, and to give you a fair and patient heart before you respond.
