21. Formal Translation
Yet he has no root in himself, but is only temporary; when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away.
21. Dynamic Translation
He does not have deep roots in himself, but lasts only for a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the message, he quickly gives up.
