Admit your need and look to God for rescue

Work harder until you can solve it yourself

Compare yourself with others and assume you're safe

Put the question aside because it feels unsettling

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and from trusting myself, and I ask you to rescue me and be my Lord. Thank you for hearing me and receiving me. Amen.

Lord, Save Me

Lord, your people can grow impressed with ourselves and forget how much we need your rescue. Revive your Church with holy astonishment, humble us before your saving grace, and make us a people who trust you rather than our own strength, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Us Up to Our Need

Father, I confess that I often act as if I can save or fix myself. Forgive my pride and my shallow confidence. Teach me to rest in your saving power and to stop pretending I am enough, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

From Self-Reliance to Trust

Name the situation that feels beyond you. Ask God to show you where you are relying on yourself, and then ask him for the rescue only he can give.

Pray When It Feels Impossible

Thank God for: saving people who cannot save themselves; speaking with mercy to people who are overwhelmed; the gift of rescue that does not depend on human strength.

Thank You for Real Rescue

Lord, I bring before you anyone who feels shocked, confused, or convinced that hope is out of reach. Meet them with your saving power, quiet their fear, and draw them to trust you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

For the Overwhelmed
