thank God for what was given and speak the concern calmly and directly

tell several other people first so the complaint spreads quickly

stay outwardly polite while quietly feeding resentment

assume that a complaint is always the only honest response

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned, complained from a selfish heart, and failed to trust you. I cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and receive you as my Lord and Savior. Give me a new heart of gratitude and peace. Amen.

Receive the Lord Who Gives Grace

Lord, revive your Church where we have become quick to murmur and slow to give thanks. Where we have compared ourselves with others, teach us contentment; where we have nursed resentment, teach us humility; where we have complained, turn us into a people of praise and honesty. Wake us up to your goodness, and let our witness be marked by gratitude and fairness, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive a Grateful Church

Bring these to God: the provision already in your hands; the temptation to focus only on what feels unfair; gratitude for the ways God has already cared for you; a desire to see ordinary gifts as signs of his kindness.

Thank God for What He Has Given

Father, I confess that I have complained when I felt overlooked, and I have let resentment shape my words. Forgive me for murmuring instead of trusting you. Give me a clean heart and a peaceful tongue, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Forgive My Grumbling

Pray for workers, employers, and households everywhere: that pay would be fair, promises would be kept, and frustration would not turn into bitterness. Ask God to make places of work marked by honesty, respect, and peace.

For Fair Workplaces

When you feel the urge to murmur, pause and thank God for one thing you did receive. Then ask him for words that are calm, truthful, and free of resentment.

A Calmer Response When Disappointed
