A sharp rebuke that compares them to dangerous snakes

It asks whether they can get away from the judgment.

It promises that sincere effort will make the danger disappear.

It treats the danger as only temporary and small.

Turn from sin quickly instead of assuming the danger will pass

Wait and see whether the warning still matters later

Use the warning mainly to compare yourself with others

Treat the warning as symbolic but not urgent

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and deserve judgment. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for my sins and rose again. Please forgive me, save me, and make me yours. I confess you as my Lord and open my life to you. Amen.

Rescue Me from Judgment

Lord, wake up your Church where we have grown casual about sin and slow to repent. Give us clean hands, honest hearts, and courage to speak your warnings with love. Restore holy fear and urgency among us, and keep us from treating judgment lightly. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Awaken Your Church to Holy Fear

Father, when I hear your warning, I do not want to harden my heart. Expose the sin I excuse, the pride I hide, and the delay I tolerate. Lead me to turn from it quickly and walk in obedience today. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Turn My Heart Quickly

Set aside a few minutes to name one warning from Scripture that has been pressing on you. Ask God to make your conscience tender, to show you what you need to turn from, and to give you one immediate step of obedience.

Pray for a Tender Conscience

Pray for people who brush off God's warnings, especially those who feel spiritually secure while ignoring sin. Ask God to break pride, awaken repentance, and draw them to mercy before judgment hardens them.

For the Proud and Self-Deceived

Thank God that he does not leave people without warning. Thank him for speaking clearly about judgment, for exposing danger before it is too late, and for giving us time to turn back to him.
