A sunrise that slowly brightens one place

A lightning flash that begins in the east and is seen everywhere

A storm cloud that gathers but stays local

A torch carried from one person to another

It can be seen all the way across to the west

The Son of Man's arrival is compared to that lightning

The coming is described as hidden from view

The verse says the event happens at midnight

Live alert and make obedience part of ordinary life

Put off obedience until signs become dramatic

Treat the promise as too distant to affect today

Focus mainly on predicting the exact time

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I come to you needing mercy. I admit that I have sinned and lived in ways that do not honor you. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and ask you to forgive me and make me new. Be my Lord and my Savior, and let your light rule my life. Amen.

Lord, Make Me Yours

Father, revive your Church with holy readiness. Wake us from distraction and compromise, cleanse us from hidden sin, and make us a people who live as if the Lord's coming could not be missed. Let our lives shine with faith, hope, and obedience for the watching world, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Your Church to Readiness

Thank God that Jesus' return is not hidden, uncertain, or lost in darkness. Give thanks for a hope that reaches from one end of life to the other and for the confidence that Christ will come in a way no one can miss.

Father, keep my heart awake and my steps faithful. When I am tempted to delay obedience or chase signs and theories, bring me back to steady trust and simple faithfulness. Teach me to live today in a way that honors the coming of your Son, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
