The servant lacks knowledge of the exact hour

focus on appearances until the very last moment

assume the timing is knowable and wait for a clearer sign

postpone obedience because there is still plenty of time

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I confess that I have sinned and lived for myself. I turn from my sin and ask you to forgive me. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord, and I ask you to make me ready for your coming and lead my life from this day on. Amen.

Ready to Receive You

Lord, wake your Church from delay and complacency. Make us faithful in unseen places, ready in heart and deed for the day you come. Stir us to holiness, urgency, and hope, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Your Church for Your Coming

Father, teach me to live alert before you. Keep me from putting off obedience, and help me trust you with the timing I do not know, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

A Watchful Heart

Pray by naming one place where you keep saying, 'later.' Ask God for one next faithful step, and ask him to help you do it today.

One Next Faithful Step

Bring to God any habit of postponing obedience, any false sense that there is always more time, and any half-hearted readiness that looks prepared but is not.

Turning from Delay

Pray for people around you who are living as if they have endless time. Ask God to awaken them gently, give them repentance and faith, and make them ready to meet the Lord.
