It turns the words into a casual suggestion

It shows the speaker is unsure what he means

It changes the message into a different topic

Seek real readiness and a true relationship, not just outward closeness

Count on familiarity with religious things to be enough

Delay responding and hope the warning does not apply

Try to look convincing, even if nothing changes inside

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that outward closeness is not enough. I turn from my sin and from every empty pretense. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord, and I ask you to forgive me, receive me, and make me truly yours. Let me be known by you. Amen.

Receive Me and Make Me Yours

Lord, wake up your Church from empty familiarity. Where we have depended on appearances, give us repentance; where we have trusted words without obedience, give us sincerity; where we have presumed on your welcome, make us ready and humble. Let us live as a people you truly know, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Us from Empty Familiarity

Father, search me and expose whatever is false in me. I do not want to rely on religious habits while my heart stays unchanged. Give me honesty, repentance, and a real desire to be known by Christ, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Search Out What Is False

Thank God that he speaks plainly and mercifully, so we are not left in false peace. Thank him for the chance to turn before it is too late.

Thank You for Honest Warning

Begin by naming one place where you depend on appearance, routine, or familiarity. Ask God to replace that with sincerity, obedience, and a heart that is truly ready.

Pray for Real Readiness

Pray for someone who is near Christian things but not yet living in real faith: that they would move from pretense to honesty, from hearing to trusting, and from familiarity to readiness.
