The wedding groom took longer than expected

Keep watch and continue doing what is faithful while you wait

Assume the delay means the promise no longer matters

Stay busy with whatever fills the time, even if it dulls your attention

Prepare only when the moment finally becomes obvious

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and drifted when I should have been awake. I cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust you as my Lord and Savior. Keep my heart alive to you and lead me in your way. Amen.

Lord, Make Me Yours

Father, revive your Church when we have grown dull in a long wait. Stir us from spiritual sleep, renew our love for Christ, and make us faithful and alert until he comes. Wake our hearts, our prayers, and our obedience, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Up Your Church

Name the season that feels slow, tell God where you are growing weary, and ask him for one concrete act of faithfulness to do before the day is over.

Pray Through a Long Delay

Bring these to God: your tendency to drift when waiting gets long; a desire for steady faith instead of numbness; a willingness to stay awake through prayer, obedience, and hope.

Alert in Spirit

Lord, I lift up anyone whose long waiting has made them tired, distracted, or discouraged. Strengthen them with patience, guard them from drifting into spiritual sleep, and help them keep trusting your timing, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

For the Weary Waiter

Thank God for: his wise timing when life feels delayed; his patience with weary people; the way he can keep a heart awake even in a long wait.
