Refuse to add your voice and speak with respect

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have joined the wrong crowd in my heart, and I need your mercy. I turn from my sin and from every harsh, contemptuous way. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I trust you to forgive me, make me new, and lead my life as my Lord. Amen.

Come to the One They Mocked

Lord, revive your Church to refuse contempt and to stand with the suffering. Break our habits of ridicule, make us quick to honor the shamed, and fill us with the compassion of Christ when the crowd is cruel. Teach us to speak and act with dignity, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your Church in Compassion

Lord, when I am mocked, steady my heart; when I see others shamed, make me gentle and brave. Keep me from joining the crowd's contempt, and teach me to answer with respect and mercy, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Near the Mocked and Shamed

Name the person or situation where ridicule is taking place. Ask God to guard your tongue, give you courage to protect dignity, and show you one respectful action you can take today.

How to Pray When Ridicule Is Happening

Bring these to God: times you laughed at another's pain, stayed silent while someone was shamed, or cared more about fitting in than about compassion. Ask him to cleanse your speech and soften your heart.

Turning from Scorn

Give thanks for Jesus' willingness to face ridicule, for his patience under contempt, and for the dignity he gives to those who trust him. Thank God that the shamed are not forgotten by him.
