16. Formal Translation Whenever you fast, do not become like the hypocrites, gloomy, for they disfigure their faces so that they might appear to people as fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. |
16. Dynamic Translation And when you fast, do not put on a gloomy expression like those hypocrites, for they distort their faces to look as if they are fasting to others. I assure you, they have already received all the reward they are going to get. |
