Help in a quiet way that keeps the focus on the need, not on you

Help in a way that lets everyone notice your generosity

Help only after you have made the gift known first

Help only when someone praises you for it

Help generously, but make sure people know it was your idea

Help only when it can be seen and remembered by others

Help in private, but mainly so you can feel spiritually superior

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that I cannot make myself clean before God. I turn from my sin and from my need to be noticed. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord and ask you to make my life new. Lead me in your mercy. Amen.

Receive the Merciful Savior

Lord, revive your church to give in secret, love sincerely, and serve without needing credit. Free us from the habit of performing goodness, and make us a people whose mercy looks like yours. Let hidden kindness become a living witness to your grace, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Hidden Mercy in Your Church

Father, I confess that I often want my good deeds to be noticed. Forgive my pride, cleanse my motives, and teach me to give because you are good. Make my heart glad to serve without applause, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Purify My Motives

Thank God for: the freedom to do good without performing it; hidden opportunities to bless someone; mercy that matters even when no one else sees; the dignity of serving with a humble heart.

Thanks for Quiet Mercy

Pray by naming one person in need, then ask God to show you one quiet act of help you can do this week. Ask him for a willing heart that does it without telling others.

Pray for a Hidden Gift

Pray for: someone who needs help but feels ashamed to ask; God’s provision for their real needs; wisdom to respond gently and discreetly; a loving way to meet the need without drawing attention to yourself.

Mercy for Someone in Need
