Exegesis

The verse uses the vav-consecutive Qal forms wayya‘ălû {וַיַּעֲל֣וּ | wayya‘ălû} ‘and they went up’ and wayyā-ḇō {וַיָּבֹ֣א | wayyā-ḇō} ‘and he came’ to mark sequential action.
