The vav-consecutive vayikkach {וַיִּקַּח | va-yik-kaḥ} ‘and he took’ introduces the direct object et-kol-artzo miyado {אֶת־כָּל־אַרְצ֛וֹ מִיָּדוֹ | ʾet-kol-ʾar-ṣô mi-yā-dô} “all his land from his hand.”
