27. Formal Translation
For indeed he was sick, almost to death, but God {Theos, Merciful Rescuer} had mercy on him—not on him only, but also on me—so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow.
27. Dynamic Translation
He really was so sick he almost died, but God {Theos, Compassionate Healer} was merciful to him—and not just to him, but to me as well—so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow.
