Psalm 19 : 0 Worship | Music | Davidic
0. Linguistic Exegesis
This superscription is a title line rather than a complete verbal sentence. lamnatseach {לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ | lamnaṣṣēaḥ} ‘to the leader’ opens with a directional phrase that assigns the piece for liturgical performance. mizmor {מִזְמ֥וֹר | mizmôr} ‘psalm’ then identifies the genre as a musical composition, and ledavid {לְדָוִֽד | lədāwid} ‘of David’ closes the heading with Davidic attribution. The sequence moves from destination, to genre, to authorial association, which is typical of Hebrew psalm titles. English preserves the terse nominal style with short heading phrases rather than recasting the line as a full sentence.
