1 Blessed is the man who does not go along with the counsel of the wicked {resha'im: morally corrupt}, who does not take his stand on the way of sinners {chatta'im: habitual offenders}, and who does not sit where scoffers sit.
2 Instead, his joy is in the law of the LORD {YHWH, Instruction Giver}, and he reflects on His law day {yomam: continual duration} and night.
3 He will be like a tree planted beside streams of water, giving its fruit {piryo: regular yield} at its season; its leaf will not wither, and whatever he does will prosper {yatsliach: causes to succeed}.
4 The wicked {reshaim: morally corrupt} are not like that; they are like the chaff {kamots: useless husk} that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore, the wicked {reshaim: morally guilty} will not stand in the judgment, and sinners will not remain in the assembly of the righteous {tsaddiqim: just ones}.
6 For the LORD {YHWH, All-Knowing Judge} knows the way of the righteous {tsaddiqim: living justly}, but the path of the wicked will come to ruin.
