Psalm 20 : 0 Worship | Praise | Attribution
0. Linguistic Exegesis
This superscription is a verbless heading built from three compact elements. Lamnatseach {לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ | la-mə-naṣ-ṣē-aḥ} ‘to the chief musician’ opens with a prepositional phrase marking the intended liturgical or musical direction of the piece. Mizmor {מִזְמ֥וֹר | miz-môr} ‘psalm’ then identifies the composition’s genre. Ledavid {לְדָוִֽד | lə-ḏā-wiḏ} ‘of David’ adds attribution, which in Hebrew can indicate authorship, association, or placement within a Davidic collection. Because the Hebrew functions as a title line rather than a full sentence, the English preserves concise heading style with brief title punctuation.
