Psalms 21:6ExegesisTAB

Psalm 21 : 6 Blessing | Joy | Presence
6. Linguistic Exegesis
The causal conjunction ki {כִּי־ | kî} introduces a reason clause that is realized by the Qal imperfect verb teshitehu {תְּשִׁיתֵהוּ | tə-ši-te-hu} “you set him.” The noun berakhot {בְּרָכוֹת | bə-rā-ḵōṯ} with the durative laʿad {לָעַד | lā-ʿaḏ} expresses enduring divine favor. This is paralleled by the intensified Piel stem of techaddehu {תְּחַדֵּהוּ | tə-ḥad-de-hu} “you make him glad,” with besimchah {בְּשִׂמְחָה | bə-śim-ḥāh} specifying the manner. The marker et {אֶת־ | ʾeṯ} introduces panekha {פָּנֶיךָ | pā-ne-ḵā}, an idiom indicating divine presence by reference to God’s face. The two imperfect verbs depict continuous divine action and intimate communion.
