To {la-: dedicatory marker} the Chief Musician {menatseach: music director}. A Psalm of David.
O LORD {YHWH, Sustaining Protector}, the king rejoices in Your strength; in Your salvation {yeshuah: deliverance} he exults greatly!
You {atta, Sovereign Giver} have given him the desire of his heart {libbo: innermost thought}, and you have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.
For You {atta: Sovereign Protector} meet him with blessings {birkhot: covenantal bestowals} of goodness; You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.
He asked life {chayim: vital existence} from You {YHWH, Sovereign Sustainer}; You gave him length of days, forever and ever.
His glory {kevod: royal splendor} is great in Your {YHWH, Saving Sovereign} salvation; honor and majesty You bestow upon him.
For You {YHWH, Sovereign Sustainer} have made him most blessed forever; You make him glad with the joy of Your face {panekha: Presence}.
For the king trusts in the LORD {YHWH, Divine Protector} and in the lovingkindness {chesed: covenant faithfulness} of the Most High, he will not be shaken.
Your hand {yadkha: instrument of victory} will find all your enemies, and your right hand {yeminkha: seat of authority} will find those who hate you.
You will set them like a fiery furnace when You appear; the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Judge} in His anger will swallow them up, and fire {esh: purifying destruction} will consume them.
You {YHWH, Divine Judge} will destroy their fruit from the earth, and their seed {zera: lineage} from among the sons of man.
For they have inclined evil against you {YHWH, Unfailing Guardian} and devised a scheme {mezimmah: premeditated plan}, yet they are not able to accomplish it.
You {YHWH, Warrior God} will make them turn back; with Your bowstrings {mitar: Instrument of Judgment} You will aim against their faces.
Be exalted, O LORD {YHWH, Supreme Uplifted One}, in Your strength; we will sing {nashirah: joyful proclamation} and make music about Your mighty power.
