Exegesis
The qualitative relative hoios {οἷος | hoîos} introduces a comparative clause hoios ouk egeneto aph hou anthropoi egenonto epi tes ges {οἷος οὐκ ἐγένετο ἀφʼ οὗ ἄνθρωποι ἐγένοντο ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς | hoîos ouk egéneto aph hou ánthrōpoi egénonto epí tēs gēs}, which is best taken temporally, “since the time when humans came to be on the earth,” with aph hou forming a genitive construction marking the starting point of human history.
