7. Formal Translation
And this was formerly the practice in Israel concerning the redemption and concerning the exchange, to establish every matter: a man would remove his sandal and give it to his neighbor; and this was the attestation in Israel.
7. Dynamic Translation
Long ago in Israel, for any redemption or exchange to become final, a man would take off his sandal and hand it to his neighbor. This was the recognized legal custom in Israel.
