Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Zechariah 13:8:1 ⧉וְהָיָ֤הvehayaand it will be Zechariah 13:8:2 ⧉בְכָל־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙bekholhaaretsin all the land Zechariah 13:8:3 ⧉נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔הneumyahwehdeclaration of the LORD Zechariah 13:8:4 ⧉פִּֽי־שְׁנַ֣יִםpishenayima mouth of two or two parts Zechariah 13:8:5 ⧉בָּ֔הּbahin it or in her Zechariah 13:8:6 ⧉יִכָּרְת֖וּyikaretuwill be cut off Zechariah 13:8:7 ⧉יִגְוָ֑עוּyigvauthey will perish or expire Zechariah 13:8:8 ⧉וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֖יתvehashshelishitand the third {part} Zechariah 13:8:9 ⧉יִוָּ֥תֶרyivaterwill be left over or remain Zechariah 13:8:10 ⧉בָּֽהּ׃bahin it or in her |
8. Formal Translation And it shall come to pass in all the land, declares the LORD {Yahweh, Supreme Judge}, that two parts in it shall be cut off and perish; but the third shall remain in it. |
8. Dynamic Translation Throughout the whole land, the LORD {Yahweh, Righteous Arbiter} says that two-thirds will be cut down {yikkaretu: separated, excluded} and die, but one third will be left alive. |
