On that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin {chatat: moral transgression} and for impurity {niddah: ritual uncleanness}.
And it shall come to pass on that day, declares the LORD of hosts {YHWH Tsevaot, Sovereign Commander}, that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they shall no longer be remembered. I will also remove the prophets and the spirit of uncleanness {hatumah: defiling impurity} from the land.
And it will come to pass, when anyone again prophesies, that his father and his mother who bore him shall say to him, “You shall not live, for you have spoken falsehood {sheker: deliberate untruth} in the name of the LORD {YHWH, Zealous Sanctifier}.” And his father and his mother who bore him shall pierce him through as he prophesies.
And it shall come to pass on that day that the prophets will each be ashamed of their vision {khezyon: prophetic revelation} when they prophesy, and they will not wear a cloak {adderet: prophetic garment} of hair for deception.
But he will say, “I am not a prophet {navi: spokesperson for God}; I am a man working the soil {adamah: cultivated land}. For a man has acquired me from my youth.”
And he shall say to him, “What are these wounds {makot: inflicted blows} between your hands?” Then he will answer, “Those with which I was struck in the house of my friends {me'ahavai: intimate companions}.”
Awake, O sword, against My shepherd and against the man who is My companion {amiti: intimate associate}, declares the LORD of hosts {YHWH Tzvaot, Commander of Armies}; strike the shepherd, and the flock will be scattered. I will turn My hand against the little ones.
And it shall come to pass in all the land, declares the LORD {YHWH, Supreme Judge}, that two parts {pi-shenayim: portions} in it shall be cut off and perish; but the third shall remain in it.
I will bring the third part through the fire and refine them as silver is refined, and I will test them as gold is tested. He will call on My name, and I will answer him; I will say, “He is my people,” and he will say, “The LORD {YHWH, Covenant Purifier} is my God {Elohai, Divine Protector}.”
