Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Amos 6:10:1 ⧉וּנְשָׂא֞וֹunesaoand his bearer or one who carries him Amos 6:10:2 ⧉דּוֹד֣וֹdodohis uncle or kinsman Amos 6:10:3 ⧉וּמְסָרְפ֗וֹumesarfeand his burner, the one who burns him Amos 6:10:4 ⧉לְהוֹצִ֣יאlehotsito bring out Amos 6:10:5 ⧉עֲצָמִים֮atsamimbones Amos 6:10:6 ⧉מִן־הַבַּיִת֒minhabayitfrom the house Amos 6:10:7 ⧉וְאָמַ֞רveamarand he will say Amos 6:10:8 ⧉לַאֲשֶׁ֨רlaasherto the one who {is} Amos 6:10:9 ⧉בְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥יbeyarketein the innermost parts of Amos 6:10:10 ⧉הַבַּ֛יִתhabayitthe house Amos 6:10:11 ⧉הַע֥וֹדhaodis there still Amos 6:10:12 ⧉עִמָּ֖ךְimmakhwith you Amos 6:10:13 ⧉וְאָמַ֣רveamarand he will say Amos 6:10:14 ⧉אָ֑פֶסafesnone or no one Amos 6:10:15 ⧉וְאָמַ֣רveamarand he will say Amos 6:10:16 ⧉הָ֔סhashush or silence Amos 6:10:17 ⧉כִּ֛יkifor or because Amos 6:10:18 ⧉לֹ֥אlonot Amos 6:10:19 ⧉לְהַזְכִּ֖ירlehazkirto mention or to cause to remember Amos 6:10:20 ⧉בְּשֵׁ֥םbeshemby the name of Amos 6:10:21 ⧉יְהוָֽה׃yahwehthe LORD |
10. Formal Translation And his uncle will lift him up, and the one who burns him, to bring out the bones from the house. And he will say to the one who is in the recesses of the house, “Is there still anyone with you?” And he will say, “None.” And he will say, “Hush!” for we must not mention the name of the LORD {Yahweh, Sovereign Judge}. |
10. Dynamic Translation His uncle and the one who burns him will carry him out, to bring the bones from the house. Then someone will ask the person hidden deep inside, “Is anyone else still with you?” and the reply will be, “No one”. Then he will say, “Quiet!” because the name of the LORD {Yahweh, Holy Name Feared} must not be mentioned. |
