Confess your wrongdoing plainly and give God credit for his saving work

Focus only on the rescue and avoid naming your own sin

Assume past mercy means present repentance is unnecessary

Use God's help to compare yourself favorably to others

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and done wickedly. I cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Please rescue me, forgive me, and make me new. I turn from my sin and confess you as Lord. Thank you for receiving me. Amen.

Rescue Me, Lord Jesus

Lord, you rescued your people with great power and made your name known. Do that again in your Church: awaken us from pride, help us confess sin without excuses, and make us a people who honor your name, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Our Honest Confession

Thank God for rescuing his people from bondage; thank him for showing his power; thank him that his name is still known today; thank him for being faithful when his people are weak.

Thank You for Delivering and Renown

Begin by recalling one way God has carried you, then name one sin or failure plainly, and ask him for a humble heart that does not excuse itself.

Pray with Memory and Honesty

Pray for believers who hide wrongdoing; for churches to remember God's rescue before they speak; and for many to turn from sin with humility and hope.

For a Confessing People

Father, you are the God who rescues with power and makes your name known to this day. Receive my praise, and teach me to live with reverence and gratitude before you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
