| 20. Formal Translation The soul who sins shall die. A son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, nor shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. |
| 20. Dynamic Translation Whoever sins will die for that sin. A child will not share the guilt of their parent, nor will a parent share the guilt of their child. The righteous person’s good standing will rest on them, and the wicked person’s wrongdoing will rest on them. |
