Thus says the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Restorer} to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held to subdue nations before him; I will loosen the loins {motnayim: seat of power} of kings and open double doors before him so that gates will not be shut.
I {YHWH, Path-Opener} will go before you, and I will smooth the rough places {hadurim: rugged terrain}; I will break the bronze gates and cut down the iron bars.
And I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden stores {umatmunei: secret reserves} of secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD {YHWH, Revealer of Mysteries}, the One who calls you by your name, the God of Israel {Elohei Yisraʼel, Covenant Protector}.
For the sake of My servant Jacob and Israel My chosen {bechiri: selected recipient}, I {YHWH, Name Giver} have called you by your name; I have given you a title of honor, though you have not known Me.
I am the LORD {YHWH, Sole Sovereign}, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God {Elohim, Matchless Deity}. I gird you, though you have not known Me.
So that they may know from the rising of the sun and from the west that there is none besides Me. I am the LORD {YHWH, Sole Sovereign}, and there is no other {efes: complete uniqueness}.
Shaping the light and creating darkness, making peace {shalom: wholeness, harmony} and creating calamity—I, the LORD {YHWH, Cosmic Architect}, do all these things.
Pour down, O heavens, from above, and let the skies flow with righteousness {tsedeq: just and upright character}. Let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I, the LORD {YHWH, Supreme Creator}, have created it.
Woe to the one who contends with his Maker {yotzer: Divine Craftsman}. Let the potsherd contend with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to its Maker, “What are you making?” Or to your work, “It has no handles {yadayim: no handles}?”
Woe to anyone who says to a father {av: ancestral patriarch}, “What do you beget {tolid: produce offspring}?” and to a woman, “What do you bring forth?”
Thus says the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Speaker}, the Holy One of Israel {kedosh Yisra’el: uniquely set apart} and his Maker: “Ask Me about the things to come—the signs. Concerning My sons and concerning the work of My hands, do you command Me?”
I {YHWH, Sovereign Creator} made the earth and set man {adam: covenant representative} upon it; My hands stretched out the heavens, and all their host I commanded.
I have stirred him up in righteousness {tsedeq: moral rightness}, and I will make all his ways straight; he will build my city and send forth my exiles, not for price and not for bribe, says the LORD of hosts {YHWH Tsevaot, Divine Commander}.
Thus says the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Revealer}: The labour of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush and the Sabeans, men of stature {middah: great physical size}, shall pass over to you and shall be yours; they shall come after you, in chains they shall pass over, and to you they shall bow down, and to you they shall make supplication, saying, “Surely God {el: Powerful Deliverer} is in you, and there is none else; there is no other God {elohim: divine being}.”
Truly, You are God {El, Transcendent Sovereign} who hides Yourself; O God of Israel {Elohei Yisrael, Covenant Protector}, the Savior.
They were ashamed and also humiliated, all of them; together they went into disgrace {baklimah: public dishonor}—the makers of images {tzirim: carved idols}.
Israel will be saved by the LORD {YHWH, Faithful Deliverer} with an everlasting {olamim: unending ages} salvation; you will not be ashamed nor disgraced for all eternity.
For thus says the LORD {YHWH, Universe Originator}, the Creator of the heavens—He is the God {Elohim: Sovereign Sustainer}—the Former of the earth and its Maker, He established it; He did not create it empty {tohu: formless emptiness}, He formed it to be inhabited. “I am the LORD and there is no other.”
I have not spoken in secret, in a land of darkness. I did not say to Jacob’s descendants, “Seek Me in futility.” I, the LORD {YHWH, Truth Revealer}, speak righteousness {tsedeq: covenant faithfulness} and declare what is upright.
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, survivors of the nations. They did not know—those who carry the wood of their carved image{pesel: idol statue} and pray{mitpallelim: entreat or plead} to a god that cannot save.
Speak out and bring them near; indeed, let them consult together. Who has made this heard from ancient times, from long ago declared it? Is it not I, the LORD {YHWH, Sole Revealer}? And there is no other God except Me; a just {tsaddiq: righteous} God and a Savior—there is none besides Me.
Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends{afsei: farthest reaches} of the earth, for I am God{el, Only Savior}, and there is no other.
I {YHWH, Sovereign Judge} have sworn by Myself; from My mouth a word {dabar: solemn utterance} of righteousness has gone forth and will not return; therefore to Me every knee shall bow and every tongue shall swear loyalty.
Surely, it will be said of me, “In the LORD {YHWH, Only Deliverer} are righteousness {tsedaqot: saving justice} and strength.” To Him they will come, and all who are incensed against Him will be ashamed.
In the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Justifier} all the seed of Israel will be justified {yitsdeku: declared righteous} and will boast.
