Father, when sorrow feels heavy and death feels final, help me trust the promise that Jesus gives life beyond the grave. Hold close the one I mourn, steady my heart, and let hope keep me from despair, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Comfort in the Face of Loss

Pray by naming the grieving person, asking God to meet them in their pain, and asking for the right words to speak hopeful truth without rushing their sorrow. Ask for the courage to be present, patient, and gentle.

How to Pray for Someone in Grief

Thank God for: Jesus' authority over death; the promise that his word is stronger than loss; the comfort of future resurrection; the grace to keep loving people in grief.

Giving Thanks for Hope Beyond Death

Pray for: someone whose grief feels unbearable; believers who need courage to speak hope; a church that comforts well; eyes to see that Jesus' promise reaches even the darkest loss.
