Jesus says this after hearing the report.

The Son of God will be glorified through it.

The illness happened because Lazarus lacked faith.

Ask God to be honored in it and keep trusting his purpose, even before you see the outcome.

Decide the situation has no meaning and pray only for relief.

Assume the hardship means God has abandoned you.

Treat the situation mainly as a test of your own strength.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that I need your mercy. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for my sins and rose again. I believe you are Lord, and I give my life to you. Lead me in your life and hold me in my weakness. Amen.

Trusting Jesus for Life

Lord, awaken your Church to trust you when pain and sickness come. Where we are afraid of loss, teach us to seek your glory. Where we are weary, make us steady in faith and rich in compassion. Let the Son of God be honored through your people, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Let Your Church Honor You in Suffering

Father, bring your healing mercy to those who are weak in body today. Give strength, wisdom, and peace to the sick, and guide all who care for them. If you choose, restore what is broken; while they wait, let your glory be seen, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Mercy for the Sick

Lord, comfort those who have heard hard news and feel afraid. Remind them that their suffering is not beyond your care or your purpose. Keep them from despair, and give them a steady heart to trust you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Comfort for the Worried

Pray by naming the illness or hardship honestly, asking God to be glorified in it, and asking for faith to trust Jesus through it even before the outcome changes.

Pray for Glory in the Hard Place

Bring these before God: your fear of bad news, your desire for healing, your confusion about suffering, your hope that the Son of God will be honored, and your willingness to trust his purpose.
