If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and often trust my own understanding. I need your mercy and your saving grace. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust you as my Lord. Lead me when I do not understand your ways, and make me yours. Amen.

Receive the One You Do Not Yet Understand

Lord, revive your Church with humility and patience. Where we have been quick to assume and slow to understand, teach us to listen for your purpose. Give us grace to stay near Jesus, to wait for your meaning, and to speak with gentleness. Wake us up to trust you when clarity has not yet come, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your People Patient Listeners

Pray by naming one situation where you do not understand what was said or done. Ask God for patience, ask for a clear mind, and ask for one respectful question you can use instead of an assumption.

Pray Before You Conclude

Pray for: a relationship where words have been misunderstood; the grace to listen longer than you speak; the wisdom to seek what was meant before deciding what was intended.

For Conversations That Need Understanding

Thank God that Jesus does not abandon people who do not understand him yet. Thank him for staying near in confusion, for speaking with purpose, and for leading you patiently into truth.

Thank You for Staying Present

Bring these to God: your habit of quick conclusions; your need for a teachable heart; your desire to understand Jesus' words more deeply before reacting.
