Try harder to impress God so he will notice you

Keep only the teachings that feel reasonable to you

Choosing to do what he teaches, even when it is inconvenient

Speaking warmly about Jesus but leaving your behavior unchanged

Obeying mainly in hopes of earning approval

Keeping only the teachings that seem practical to you

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and not loved you as I should. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for my sins and rose again. I believe you are Lord, and I ask you to lead my life. Teach me to love you and to follow your ways. Amen.

Receive Jesus as Lord

Lord, revive your people with fresh love for Jesus. Where we have settled for words without obedience, awaken us; where our affection has grown cold, warm our hearts again; and let our daily choices show that we truly love you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Our Love into Faithfulness

Thank God for making love concrete through Jesus' words; for the gift of clear guidance; for the grace to obey as a response to love; for the help of the Holy Spirit to make faithfulness real.

Give Thanks for Jesus' Clear Way

Lord, I confess that I have often said I love you while resisting your ways. Forgive my halfheartedness, turn my heart back to you, and make my obedience come from love rather than pride or fear, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Turn My Words into Obedience

Begin by naming one teaching of Jesus you already know. Ask God to show you where you resist it, then ask for one small step you can take today to practice it.

Pray Through One Teaching

Pray for: a believer who needs courage to obey Jesus; a friend who wants love for Christ to become visible in daily life; and a church that treats Jesus' words as life-giving, not optional.
