| 19. Formal Translation If you were from the world, the world would favor its own; but because you are not from the world, instead I {Iesous, Electing Lord} chose you out of the world; for this reason the world hates you. |
| 19. Dynamic Translation If you belonged to the world, it would welcome you as its own; but because you are not part of the world, I {Iesous, Deliberate Chooser} picked you out of the world, and that is why the world hates you. |
