Exegesis

The sentence opens with a counterfactual conditional protasis introduced by ei {εἰ | eí} ‘if’, and the fronted object ta erga {τὰ ἔργα | tà érga} ‘the works’ gives immediate emphasis to Jesus’ deeds.
