Jesus sends them in the same pattern the Father sent him

Jesus sends them instead of the Father sending anyone

Jesus sends them after they prove themselves first

Jesus sends them to a different purpose than his own

Go toward people with purposeful love where you are placed

Keep your faith private by staying away from need

Wait until life feels safer before you engage anyone

Treat the world mainly as a place to avoid

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and need your mercy. I turn from my sin and believe you died for me and rose again. Forgive me, make me new, and be my Lord. Send my life where you want it to go. Amen.

Receive Jesus and Be Sent

Lord, revive your Church with the mind and heart of Jesus. Where we have become inward-looking, turn us outward; where we have grown comfortable, make us willing to go; where we have forgotten the people around us, send us again into the world with compassion and truth, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Send Your Church Out Again

Pray by naming one person, place, or responsibility before you this week. Ask God to show you where Jesus is sending you, and ask for courage to go with humility and love.

Ask Where You Are Being Sent

Pray for the neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and homes where believers are placed. Ask God to make his people visible in kindness, faithfulness, and truth, so that they reflect the sending heart of Jesus.

Pray for the Places We Live

Thank God that he sent Jesus into the world and that Jesus sends his followers with purpose. Thank him for not leaving the world untouched, but reaching it through Christ and his people.

Thank God for His Sending Heart

Bring to God your fear of going, your wish to stay comfortable, and any tendency to keep faith private. Ask him to make you ready to live as someone sent, wherever he places you.
