1 Having spoken these things, Jesus {Iesous, Prayerful Mediator} raised His eyes to heaven {ouranos: Divine Realm} and said, “Father {Pater, Giver Of Glory}, the hour has come; glorify Your Son {huios, Obedient Son}, so that the Son may glorify You.”
2 As You {Authority-Giving One} have conferred on Him authority {exousia: delegated rule} over all flesh, so that He may give eternal life to all whom You have given Him.
3 And this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God {Theos, Unique True Deity}, and Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Sent Messiah}, whom You have sent.
4 I {Iesous, Obedient Son} have glorified You on the earth by bringing the work {ergon: divinely assigned task} You gave Me to completion.
5 And now, Father {Pater, Eternal Glory-Source}, glorify Me alongside Yourself with the glory {doxa: majesty and honor} that I had with You before the world existed.
6 I have made Your {sou, Self-Disclosed Name} name known to the people whom You gave Me out of the world {kosmos: Opposed Human Order}; they were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have guarded Your word.
7 Now they have come to know that all that You {Pater, Generous Giver} have given Me {Iesous, Entrusted Son} has its origin in You.
8 Because the words {rhemata: spoken message} You {Theos, Faithful Giver} gave Me, I have delivered them to them; they received them and truly knew that I came out from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
9 I {Iesous, Prayerful Intercessor} pray for them; I do not pray for the world, but for those whom You {Pater, Covenant Giver} have given to Me, because they are Yours.
10 And everything that is Mine is Yours {sou: Faithful Father}, and everything that is Yours is Mine, and I {ego: Glorified Son} have been glorified in them.
11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father {Pater Hagie, Covenant Guardian}, keep them in Your name {onoma: protective authority}, which You have given Me, so that they may be one, just as We are.
12 While I {Iesous, Faithful Guardian} was with them, I was guarding them in Your name, which You have given Me, and I safeguarded them; not one of them was lost except the son marked for ruin {apoleias: destructive end}, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
13 Yet now I {Iesous, Interceding Son} am coming to You, and I speak these things in the world, so that they may have My joy {kharan: Deep Gladness} brought to fullness within themselves.
14 I {Iesous, Covenant-Word Giver} have entrusted Your word to them, and the world {kosmos: hostile world system} has shown hatred toward them because they are not from the world, just as I am not from the world.
15 I {Iesous, Interceding High Priest} am not asking that You {Theos, Protective Father} remove them from the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.
16 They are not of {ek: originating source} the world, just as I {Iesous, Interceding Son} am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them in the truth; Your {sos: Source of Holiness} word {logos: Revealed Message} is truth.
18 Just as You {su: Sending Source} sent Me into the world {kosmos: Human Realm}, I also sent them into the world.
19 And on their behalf I {Iesous, Self-Giving Sanctifier} sanctify Myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth {aletheia: revealed reality}.
20 I am not asking for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me {Iesous, Interceding High Priest} through their word {logou: proclaimed message}.
21 So that all may be one, just as You, Father {Pater, Source of Unity}, are in Me {Iesous, Interceding Son} and I am in You, so that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22 And I {ego, Divine Son} have bestowed on them the glory {doxa: Radiant Honor} that You gave Me, so that they may be one, just as We are one.
23 I {Iesous, Interceding Son} am in them, and You {Pater, Loving Father} are in Me, so that they may be perfected as one, so that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them just as You loved Me.
24 Father {Pater, Giver of Glory}, I desire that those whom You have given Me may also be with Me where I am, so that they may behold My glory, which You have given Me, because You loved Me before the foundation {katabole: world formation} of the world.
25 Righteous Father {Pater, Righteous Judge}, although the world {kosmos: unbelieving order} has not come to know You, I have known You, and these have come to know that You sent Me.
26 And I have made Your name {revealed character} known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You {Loving Father} loved Me may be in them, and I in them.
