A thorny headpiece and a robe of royal color

Protect their dignity and refuse to join the mockery

Add to the embarrassment so the crowd understands the point

Correct them harshly in public so others can see the lesson

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, you were brought low and shamed, and I need your mercy. I admit that I have sinned and cannot save myself. I turn from my sin and give you my life. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord, and I trust you to lead me into your truth and life. Amen.

Receive the Humiliated King

Lord, revive your Church to see Jesus clearly. Where we have mocked, overlooked, or treated your Son lightly, forgive us. Give us reverence for his humility, courage to stand with the shamed, and a voice that points others to him with truth and compassion. Awaken us to live under the reign of the One the world despises, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Us to Honor You

Thank God for Jesus' steady dignity when he was paraded in shame; thank him that humiliation did not erase his worth; thank him that he meets us when we are mocked or overlooked.

Thanks for His Humble Dignity

Name one place where you feel embarrassed, reduced, or laughed at. Ask Jesus to meet you there with his own compassion, and ask for the grace to answer shame with calm courage rather than retaliation.

Pray When You Feel Exposed

Pray for someone who is being singled out, mocked, or stripped of dignity. Ask God to guard their heart, give them allies who speak kindly, and let them know their worth is not defined by the crowd.

For the Publicly Shamed

Bring to God any confusion, indifference, or casualness about Jesus. Ask for a deeper sight of his true honor beneath the shame, and for a heart that no longer treats him as ordinary.

See Him Rightly
