His works went far beyond what the written record can hold

Everything he did is already fully listed

He only carried out a few notable actions

The point is mainly that books are useless

Jesus did many additional deeds beyond the ones already recorded.

Each one would have to be written out separately.

Even the world would be too small for the books.

The written account is already exhaustive.

Stay humble, keep learning, and let the Gospels keep enlarging your view of Jesus.

Assume the written stories already give a complete grasp of Jesus.

Treat the record as useful, but stop expecting it to lead you into deeper wonder.

Focus only on collecting facts, since the point is just information.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and cannot save myself. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for my sins and rose again. You are Lord, and I open my life to you. Your works are greater than I can count, and I need your mercy, your forgiveness, and your life. Save me, lead me, and make me yours. Amen.

Come to Jesus

Lord, revive your Church with fresh awe at Jesus. Keep us from treating him as small or finished. Give us hunger to keep looking, gratitude for what you have shown, and courage to speak of what we have seen. Let your people overflow with worship because Christ is greater than any single account can hold, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Our Wonder

Father, thank you for the Gospel witness you have given us. Thank you that the things written about Jesus are true, enough to lead us to faith, and still only a glimpse of his fullness. Teach us to receive that gift with gratitude, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for What You Have Shown

Pray by naming one story or saying of Jesus that you already know, then ask God to show you something new about his character or power. Ask for a humble heart that keeps learning instead of assuming you have finished knowing Christ.

Pray for Fresh Curiosity

Pray for: friends who think Jesus is small or predictable; teachers, parents, and leaders who speak about him; a church that keeps telling his story with honesty and wonder; your own courage to share one fresh thing you notice about him.

For Those Who Need a Bigger Vision of Jesus

Father, keep me from shallow certainty about Jesus. Give me a teachable spirit, patience to keep reading, and humility to let your Word keep enlarging my view of Christ, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
