Exegesis
The direct object of this knowing, ten dorean tou theou {τὴν δωρεὰν τοῦ θεοῦ | tēn dō-re-án tou the-oû} ‘the gift of God,’ is coordinated with a second internal object clause, tis estin ho legon soi {τίς ἐστιν ὁ λέγων σοι | tís é-stin ho lé-gōn soi} ‘who it is who is saying to you,’ linked by kai {καὶ | kaí} to create a parallel structure: knowing both the divine gift and the identity of the Giver. The participial phrase ho legon soi functions substantivally, effectively a relative clause “the one who speaks to you.”
