They wanted to rejoice in his light for a while.

Their joy in his light is shown as lasting without limit.

Keep the witness at the center and let the light fade into the background.

Rejoice in the light, but let it lead you beyond the witness.

Enjoy the inspiration for a while and then treat it as over.

Refuse to celebrate the light unless it lasts forever.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I need your light because I have sinned and followed only brief flashes instead of you. I turn from my sin and ask you to forgive me. I believe you died for me and rose again. I confess you as Lord and receive you as my Savior. Lead me to live in your light. Amen.

Come to Your Light

Lord, revive your Church so we would not settle for a moment of excitement but would become steady lamps that point to you. Burn away our dullness, deepen our joy, and let our witness shine with humble faithfulness in a dark world, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your Church Shine Steadily

Bring these to God: gratitude for people who have pointed you toward his light; appreciation for their steady, ordinary faithfulness; praise that God uses human lamps to help others see.

Thank You for Faithful Witnesses

Pray by naming where your joy has faded, asking God to renew it, and asking him to help you keep following his light beyond a passing season.

Pray for Steady Joy

Father, strengthen the mentors, parents, pastors, and friends who have pointed me toward your light. Protect their humility, refresh their joy, and help them keep shining without seeking praise, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Bless the People Who Shine Quietly

Lord, teach me not to stop at the messenger. Give me eyes to rejoice in the light you send, a heart that honors faithful witnesses, and courage to pass that light on to others, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
