A habit of delaying obedience until later

Choose to do what God wants, then assess the teaching by whether it comes from him

Wait until the teaching matches your preferences before you obey

Assume your own instincts are enough to prove what is true

Follow the most convincing speaker, even if obedience is unclear

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit my sin and my need. I have often wanted my own way, and I cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust you as my Lord. Give me a willing heart and teach me to follow your truth. Amen.

Come to Jesus for Truth

Father, revive your Church so that we want your will more than our own plans. Wake us from pride, restore a humble hunger for your truth, and make us a people who listen to Jesus with open hearts and obedient lives, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your People to Obey

Lord, I want to do what pleases you. Where my preferences compete with your voice, quiet my heart and lead me clearly. Help me recognize what comes from you and step into it gladly, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Help Me Want Your Way

Thank God for: truth that can be known; a heart that wants his will; Jesus' faithful teaching; and the mercy of being led by God rather than by ourselves.

Thank You for Reliable Truth

Name one decision, set aside your first preference, ask God what honors him, then wait quietly for the next obedient step you can see.

Pray Over One Decision

Bring to God: a willingness to be corrected; a calmer spirit before disagreement; trust in Jesus' voice; and a daily habit of asking what God wants.
