They asked someone else to answer for him

They asked him to explain how the healing happened

They admitted they were unsure what to think

Honor God and speak truthfully instead of echoing the charge

Stay with the crowd and repeat the charge

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit my sin and my need for your mercy. I have judged others and sought my own honor, and I turn from that sin. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Forgive me, save me, and make me new. I confess you as Lord and ask you to lead my life in the glory of God. Amen.

Give Me a Clean Heart

Lord, revive your Church so we do not use your name to win arguments or crush people. Make us humble, truthful, and quick to honor you above ourselves. Purify our speech, heal our pride, and teach us to speak with justice and mercy. Wake us up again to live for your glory, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

A Church That Honors You

Father, I confess that I have sometimes cared more about sounding right than about honoring you. I have repeated claims too quickly, spoken harshly, and treated people as labels instead of persons. Have mercy on me, cleanse my motives, and teach me to tell the truth with humility, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Forgive My Harsh Words

Pray by naming one situation where you feel pushed to agree with a harsh judgment, then ask God for courage to honor him, clarity to speak truth, and gentleness toward the person being judged.

When I Feel Pressured

Pray for someone who is being spoken of unfairly: that God would guard their heart, strengthen their witness, and give them wise support from others who will honor truth. Also pray for anyone tempted to spread the accusation, that they would stop and listen before speaking.

For the Misjudged

Thank God that his honor is never fragile, and that he invites us to speak truthfully before him. Give thanks that he can free us from the need to win every argument and teach us a better way to live.
