For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud {zedim: acting arrogantly} and all who do evil will be stubble. The approaching day will burn them up, says the LORD of hosts {YHWH Tsevaot, Divine Warrior}, leaving them neither root nor branch.
But for you who fear My {YHWH, Righteous Judge} name, the sun of righteousness {tsedaqah: covenant justice} will rise with healing in its wings. You will go out and frolic like calves from the stall.
You shall trample the wicked {resha'im: morally corrupt}, for they will become ashes beneath the soles of your feet on the day when I act, says the LORD of hosts {YHWH Tsevaot, Commander of Armies}.
Remember the law I {YHWH, Sovereign Lawgiver} gave to My servant {avdi: devoted one} Moses at Horeb for all Israel—its statutes and its judgments.
Behold, I am sending you the prophet {hanavi: divine spokesperson} Elijah before the coming of the great and fearful day of the LORD {YHWH, Day of Judgment}.
He will turn the hearts of fathers toward their children and the hearts of children toward their fathers so that I {YHWH, Covenant Judge} will not come and strike the land with utter destruction {cherem: total ban}.
