He approached Jesus and dropped to his knees.

He stayed at the edge of the crowd and watched.

Come directly to Jesus with humility and honest need.

Wait until you feel self-sufficient enough to approach.

Keep your need hidden and hope no one notices.

Ask someone else to take the step for you.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I come to you as I am, with sin, need, and no way to save myself. I turn from my sin and ask for your mercy. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord and open my life to you. Receive me, forgive me, and lead me now. Amen.

Come to Jesus Humbly

Lord, revive your Church to come near to you with humble hearts. Where we have become proud, busy, or distant, draw us back to our knees. Teach us to seek you honestly, and make our prayers full of dependence on your mercy, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your Church Humble Again

Father, thank you that this man could come to Jesus and not be rejected because of his need. Thank you that humility is a doorway to mercy, and that the needy can draw near. Teach me to honor that kind of welcome, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for Welcoming the Humble

Pray by naming one place where you feel hesitant, ashamed, or overwhelmed. Ask Jesus for the courage to come near, tell him the truth, and take one humble next step today.

Pray with Honest Need

Pray for someone who keeps their distance from Jesus because of fear, pride, or pain. Ask God to bring them close, soften their heart, and help them come honestly before Christ, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Draw the Distant Near

Lord, I confess the pride that keeps me standing back when I should come to you. Forgive me for hiding my need and trusting myself. Give me a kneeling heart that turns quickly toward Jesus, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
