They sent him away without doing anything

They refused to try because they did not care

Keep bringing it to Jesus and his people honestly

Stop speaking about it because the first attempt failed

Hide it so you do not feel disappointed again

Assume prayer has no point if healing does not happen quickly

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that I cannot make myself whole. I turn from my sin and from trusting my own strength. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord and ask you to receive me, heal me, and lead my life. Amen.

Come to Jesus for Help

Lord, revive your Church to be a place where hurting people are welcomed, heard, and carried to you in prayer. Keep us from confidence in our own ability, and make us humble when we cannot fix what others bring us. Teach us compassion, perseverance, and faith, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church's Compassion

Father, for the people and problems that have resisted every human attempt to heal, please do what we cannot do. Give mercy where strength has run out, restore what is broken, and help us keep bringing hard cases to you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Where Help Has Fallen Short

Name the need plainly before God, admit where human help has reached its limit, then ask Jesus for the help only he can give. If you have trusted believers nearby, ask them to pray with you instead of carrying it alone.

Pray When Human Help Stops

Bring before God: your disappointment when helpers cannot fix things; your tendency to give up too soon; your need for humble trust that keeps seeking Jesus; your desire to let hard situations draw you deeper into prayer.

Learning to Keep Bringing the Need

Pray for: people who feel let down by human limits; Christian friends and leaders who carry the weight of others' pain; courage to keep pointing sufferers to Jesus with gentleness; fresh faith for those who have almost stopped asking for help.

For the Hurting and the Helpers
